Welcome to Ridge Raven
A place to wander, on the trail and in your own head.
I’m Petra. Trail junkie. Pyrography artist. Reluctant rule-follower.
I live on the edge of the Blue Ridge in Central Virginia with my partner and four dogs, Zina, Milo, Remi, and Ringo, who believe every hike should be longer and every snack should be shared.
This land is my classroom and my reset button. With Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway practically in my backyard, I hike, camp, and wander not to escape life, but to listen to it. Out here, the noise drops off. The important stuff gets louder.
Ridge Raven is part trail journal, part field notes, part quiet encouragement for anyone who feels the pull to step outside, especially if you’ve been waiting for permission. Whether you’re hiking solo, learning to trust yourself outdoors, or just craving a little more space to breathe, you’re in the right place.
You don’t need to summit anything epic to change your life.
Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is lace up your boots and walk what’s right in front of you.
I believe in strong legs, muddy boots, and laughing more than panicking. A heart attack at 49? Hard pass. I’ll take grit, grace, good trail snacks, and a body that still wants to move.
So if you’re craving solitude, sweat, clarity, or just a reason to get out the door, welcome.
Walk your pace. Trust your feet.
Let’s see what’s waiting just beyond the next ridge.
