Walk The Year

A year-long hiking practice with Ridge Raven

A 52-Week Hiking Challenge

Walk the land for a year.
Dogs welcome.
Something rooted when you’re done.

What this is

The Ridge Raven Trail Year is a 52-week hiking challenge built for real people with real lives.

You hike once a week for a year. Any distance. Any pace. Any trail.

This isn’t about crushing miles or collecting bragging rights.
It’s about consistency, presence, and staying connected to the trail, week after week.

Dogs are not an afterthought here

Dogs are welcome.
Reactive dogs are welcome.
Slow dogs are welcome.
“I stopped 12 times because my dog needed to sniff something important” dogs are welcome.

This challenge is built with real trail life in mind.

How the Trail Year works

Each week you:

  • go for one hike or walk
  • receive a weekly email with:
    • a simple trail prompt
    • my thoughts or reflections from the trail
    • something to notice or carry with you

You don’t need to journal.
You don’t need to post.
The walk counts whether anyone sees it or not.

Miss a week?
You don’t fail.
You resume.

The Ridge Raven Token (how it works)

This is not merch.
It’s a marker of continuity.

When you complete the Trail Year, you’ll submit a simple form where you can choose:

  • to record weeks completed
  • total miles hiked
  • or both

Based on your submission, your Ridge Raven Token will be created to reflect:

  • the Trail Year
  • your completion marker (week count, miles, or both)

Each token is earned, not automatic.

How completion is tracked

You’ll receive a Google Form at the end of the Trail Year where you can:

  • confirm completion
  • optionally enter total miles hiked
  • choose your token style
  • submit shipping details

No apps.
No GPS stalking.
We trust walkers here.

Digital Completion Certificate

At the end of the year, paid participants receive a digital certificate recognizing their Trail Year.

Includes:

  • downloadable + printable format
  • year completed
  • Ridge Raven branding

Tree Planting

Every paid Trail Year participant who completes the year will have:

  • one tree planted in your name
  • with region information included

This is reciprocity, not marketing fluff.

Who this is for

This is for you if:

  • you want consistency without pressure
  • you’re tired of loud fitness challenges
  • you hike with dogs
  • you value ritual over metrics
  • you want your time outside to mean something

This is not about speed, streaks, or perfection.

Either way, keep walking.
